Paint on sackcloth. Circa 1970. 87 x 74cm
Exhibited at the Joash Woodrow Retrospective 2005,

Illustrated, page 119, the Joash Woodrow monograph and in the Joash Woodrow retrospective catalogue.
From the early 1960's Joash became increasingly absorbed in recording his entire environment, including wildlife -
from the birds in his garden to the animals recorded on his visits to the local park and farm at Roundhay Park.
Painted directly onto coarse hessian, using thickly applied layers of clotted household paint mixed with oil,
The White Goat is now thought to have been painted during the early 1970's and relates to several other paintings
of the same subject. The watercolour / gouache opposite comes from one of the nine Edwardian Magazines of Art
from Joash's collection of books; having drawn over the original reproductions.
