George Rowlett

Born in Troon, Ayrshire, George initially studied at Grimsby College of Art during the early 1960's before continuing his studies at Camberwell and then at the Royal Academy Schools. Rowlett's paintings are instantly recognizable in style and technique, the paint applied in thick, liquid movements using trowels and scrapers. His paintings are always a direct response to his subject, whether still life, portrait or landscape, with a resulting honesty that is captivating and refreshing. George paints from his studios in Rotherhithe and Walmer.
