Christopher P Wood (Born 1961)

This Harrogate exhibition offers a rare and unique opportunity to view new work by the Christopher, including hand coloured monotypes, watercolours and oil paintings. The exhibition features 25 previously unseen new works, from the same series as his masterful painting The Woodland Queen, Titania, currently on display at the Royal Academy, London. Christopher is currently exhibiting in the prestigious ‘Invited Artists’ category at the RA and his painting has already received significant praise from critics and Royal Academicians.

Born in Leeds in 1961 Christopher P Wood studied art locally before attending a post graduate fine art course at Chelsea College of Art, where he was considered to be one of their most promising students. Since then he has worked from his studio in North Leeds developing his reputation as an artist of International standing.

Wood’s earliest work owes much to the influences of early Italian and Netherlandish landscape paintings, although over the past ten years his rich, luminous dream like landscapes have captured a far more personal vision.

In 2008 Agnews Fine Art, London hosted a major solo exhibition of his work.  Other major solo exhibitions have been held at The Piccadilly Gallery, Goldmark Fine Art, The Mercer Gallery Harrogate, Rebecca Hossack Gallery London, Michael Carr Fine Art, Sydney.

His work is held in many public and private collections including Harrogate Art Gallery, Leeds City Council, Oldham Art Gallery, Preston
Art Gallery, The Unilever Collection.

An extensive monograph on Christopher Wood will be published in 2011.
