Born in Glasgow, 1958, Wiszniewski initially studied Architecture (1975 - 79) at Glasgow School of Art before transferring to the School of Drawing and Painting (1979 - 83). He won the Haldane Trust Award, Cargill Scholarship and Mark Rothko Memorial Trust Fund Award in the early 1980's.

His first solo exhibition was held at the Compass Gallery, Glasgow, in 1984 followed by exhibitions at Nicola Jacobs and the Air Gallery, London. During the mid 1980’s the name Adrian Wiszniewski was synonymous with the explosive new wave of Scottish figurative artists The New Glasgow Boys; including Steven Campbell, Stephen Conroy, Peter Howson and Ken Currie. In 1985 his work was acquired for the collections of the Tate Gallery and for the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Between 1986 - 87 he was artist in residence at the Walker Gallery, Liverpool, concluding with a solo exhibition there in 1987.

Since the late 1980’s Wiszniewski has constantly risen to the challenge of multi – faceted projects including writing, illustration, furniture and interior design, multimedia artwork and music. In 2009 / 10 he worked with the Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra, in the production of a musical narrative of GBH (The Girl, The Boy and The Hag) a book written and illustrated by Wiszniewski as part of a trilogy of musical / theatrical events. During the past twelve months he has concentrated on a return to making pictures producing some of his most exciting work to date. A selection of his recent paintings were shown at 108 Fine Art, Harrogate this summer in a collaborative exhibition with the musician and artist Edwyn Collins.

His work is held in numerous public and private International collections.

In the past few years Adrian Wiszniewski has increasingly been absorbed by painting. His recent series of works heralds a return to form, and undoubtedly some of his most magnificent paintings to date.
