James Cauty

James Cauty was born on Merseyside in 1956. Former projects have included the Cautese National Postal Disservice (CNPD) and the Blacksmoke Organisation. His work with the CNPD led to the controversial Stamps of Mass Destruction series.
Together with fellow musician and friend Bill Drummond, Cauty formed The KLF releasing seven consecutive top ten singles and five albums, becoming the biggest selling singles act in the world in 1991. In 1994 Cauty and Drummond set fire to £1 million in unused £50 notes, the ashes of which were made into a brick. His antics have been inspiring followers and infuriating critics ever since. His current series of 'ultraviolent' cartoons have been produced in collaboration with his son Harry.
